Sloping and slow

Picture
Draw me a line
Sloping and slow
Outward to meet you

We forgot
In coming full circle
To leave me a path
From the pivot point
Of our compass

So while you are free
In endless orbit
I can only pirouette
Keeping my eyes on you
Flicking my neck with each turn
So I don't teeter
Fall into the chasm
Of white space separating us

Perhaps you will write me a story
If ordinary lines don't suit you
A brief tale of arduous journey
From center to circumference

And if I make it
To that outer ring
Will we ever meet along it?
Or will you spin too quickly for me to catch up?

I could traverse the opposite way
Create our own atomic collider
But would the impact destroy our worlds?

The focus on perfection
Of making the open ends meet
Overshadowed the need for intersection
And now
Just as before
I must be rescued

Perpetual motion

Picture
I want to lay content as a cat in the sun
Eyes heavy lidded
Warm
My breath unhurried

But I am a perpetual motion machine
With a flutter in her chest
And thoughts racing a Grand Prix
To see who can cross the finish line
Of second guessing first
